CATHOLIC HANDBOOKS SERIES

The truth that God has confided to his one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church for the salvation of the world transcends all times and places. Every person is invited to know and be transformed by God’s saving truth. This fact is the inspiration behind the ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CATHOLIC THEOLOGY (ECT).

In conjunction with the online resources of the ECT (ect.org), the CATHOLIC HANDBOOKS SERIES provides concise overviews in print form of doctrines essential to Christian thought and life. In continuity with the ECT’s commitment to doctrinal fidelity and wide accessibility, each of the Catholic Handbooks contains elements of the encyclopedia articles found on ect.org. These books do not merely reiterate the ECT’s virtual content, however. Each volume contains additional chapters and materials not available online.

The Catholic Handbooks offer a fresh presentation of Christian faith and morals for contemporary readers. Oriented around the sacred deposit of faith that Jesus Christ entrusted to the Church, each Handbook explores the intelligibility of faith in fidelity to the Magisterium. Christian doctrine is of perennial value and everlasting importance. The sanctifying wisdom of divine truth extends even to contemporary questions and concerns. In sum, the CATHOLIC HANDBOOKS SERIES provides twenty-first century readers with an introduction to the truth of God—a truth that saves.
